The Rivers State Police Command has announced that local vigilante groups and others in possession of firearms should submit them with immediate effect. This is following the order of the Inspector General of Police.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni during a press briefing in Port Harcourt said such persons can submit the arms to their chiefs, traditional rulers, local government chairmen or to the Police.
He said after the expiration of the deadline, force would be applied to retrieve the fire arms while such persons will be arrested and prosecuted.
