The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspect alleged to have abducted a six months old baby while dumping the mother of the child, Mrs Chizoba Eke in a septic tank at Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.
The suspect was arrested with the baby by police officers on stop and search duty at Omarelu, community, a boundary between Rivers State and neighboring Imo state.
Spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP. Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident to Journalists on Thursday.
“ Yes, the woman was rescued by our men yesterday (Wednesday ) . She was kidnapped and dumped in a septic pit on August 18 and rescued on 19th . Her baby was also rescued, ” he said.
“ On receipt of the matter, our men initiated investigation which led to the recovery of the child and the arrest of the suspect, who took them to where they kept the woman,” Omoni added.
