The Emeka Beke-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has announced it will not participate in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for August 30.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the faction’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, who alleged that members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) are card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and affiliated with the pro-Wike group, Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI).
In contrast, the rival APC faction led by Tony Okocha has declared its intention to take part in the polls.
