The Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Dr. Michael Odey, has called on election observers to maintain neutrality and transparency in the discharge of their duties during the August 30, 2025, local government elections.
Dr. Odey made the appeal at a one-day training programme organised for observers and journalists in Port Harcourt, stressing that credible election observation is central to sustaining democracy and building public trust in the electoral process.
Most of the observers in attendance were drawn from civil society organisations in the state. The CSO team lead, Isaac Green, said their participation in the exercise was aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the polls.
