The Rivers State House of Assembly is set to repeal the Rivers State Advertisement and Use of State-owned Property (Prohibition) Law No.7 of 2022.
Recall that the 9th Assembly under the speakershiip of Ikuinyi Ibani prohibited the use of state-owned facilities without authorization.
The law was actually to give backing to the executive order 21 issued by former Governor Nyesom Wike.
Commenting on the Bill, during plenary yesterday, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule averred that the rationale for the repeal of the Bill is anchored on the hard economic realities of the time, noting that the Tenth Assembly is focused on reducing the burden of the people by giving them access to government owned facilities without paying heavily for it.
The Bill was referred to the House Committee on Urban Development for further legislative scrutiny; and to submit its Report within two weeks.
