The Rivers State Government has renewed its collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to enhance child health and protection initiatives across the state.
Representing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, on Tuesday received the new UNICEF Country Representative, Wafaa Saeed, alongside members of her senior management team, who were on an official field visit to Rivers State.
The meeting, which also had in attendance the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh; the Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Dr. Chituru Adele; and directors from the Ministry of Health, focused on assessing ongoing programmes and exploring new areas of partnership.
Discussions centred on strengthening interventions in child health and protection, reviewing progress made so far and identifying future areas of support.
UNICEF commended the Rivers State Government for its significant investments and sustained efforts in promoting child well-being, describing the state’s progress as encouraging and worthy of recognition.
