The Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), has sealed several veterinary facilities in the state for operating without licences or qualified personnel.
During the joint enforcement exercise, medications and other supplies were confiscated from more than eight unlicensed facilities, while three centres were shut down completely. Several others were issued official warnings.
Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of NVMA, Dr. Bolaji Ajayi, said the move was part of ongoing efforts to sanitise veterinary practice in the state, stressing that unregulated operations pose serious risks to public health.
