The Rivers State Government, says it will continue to make concerted efforts to push its Primary Healthcare Delivery System to be the envy of other States in the Federation.
The State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, who is also the Chairman of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare, stated this during the 2024 First Quarterly Review Meeting of the Rivers State Task Force on Primary Health at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday 19th March 2024.
Prof Odu, who disclosed that Governor Fubara is very passionate about health and education urged members of the Task Force to go the extra mile to make him know they will not disappoint him.
“If we are doing double we should make it quadruple, because they say when you excel you attract more things, when he sees that you are doing well and projecting the Government very well in the health sector, he will do much more.
The Deputy Governor, urged them to continue to work like a family, noting that whenever they hear negative comments it should spur them to do things better instead of discouraging them.
“For me when you are somewhere and you do not have criticisms you will not push ahead, criticisms pushes and challenges you to do things better, you are all very energetic and vibrant leaders at all levels”. The Deputy Governor further stressed.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Health Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, said the Task Force undertook an assessment on the coverage of immunization, efforts in health promotion in communities, advocacy efforts to traditional and community leaders, family planning, maternal and child health as well as addressing the issues in our teenage and adolescent patients.
