The Rivers State Ministry of Health says the contributory health insurance scheme, launched in January, is now fully operational, providing citizens access to affordable and quality medical care.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh made this known during a press briefing in Port Harcourt.
Oreh, also disclosed that the Anti-Quackery Committee by the Ministry has sealed a health facility in Komkom Community in Oyigbo Local Government Area.
She said the facility, managed by two foreigners and a Nigerian, attends to their patients using recycled syringes and needles.
She explained that the facility is among six health establishments has been shut down recently.
Dr Oreh said the crackdown is part of the ongoing efforts by the state government to combat illegal medical facilities in the State.
