The Rivers State Government has withdrawn the permission it earlier gave to the Presidential campaign Council of Atiku Abubakar to use the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium on the 11th of February for its rally.
In a letter signed by Rivers State commissioner for sports Christopher Green and addressed to the director of the campaign Council Aminu Tambuwal said the reason for the withdrawal follows intelligent information that the PDP Presidential campaign Council was working with APC candidate Arch Tonye Cole and have the intention of sharing the facility with the Tonye Cole led faction of the APC
The statement further added that the Rivers State Government would not afford to risk the destruction that might arise from the rally noting that the activities of the APC in the state have always been characterized with violence including shootings and killings.
