The Rivers State Ministry of Health on Tuesday, September 17, joined the global community to commemorate World Patient Safety Day 2025, with a focus on promoting safe healthcare for newborns and children.
This year’s theme, “Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child,” with the slogan “Patient Safety from the Start!” highlights the vulnerability of infants and young children to risks and harm resulting from unsafe medical practices.
Speaking on the commemoration, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of healthcare delivery in the state. It emphasized that reducing preventable harm remains a top priority, particularly in maternal and child health services.
The Ministry called on healthcare providers, policymakers, and communities to work collaboratively to create safer healthcare systems and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive from birth.
