The Rivers State Government has honoured retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries for their outstanding contributions to public service.
Speaking at the 2025 Civil Service Week Gala and Award Ceremony in Port Harcourt, Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, praised the retirees for shaping the state’s administrative system and ensuring governance never faltered.
“These distinguished men and women dedicated their lives to public service. Their contributions have left lasting imprints on our institutions, and their legacy remains a compass for those who now carry the torch,” he said.
He urged serving civil servants to emulate the resilience, integrity, and devotion of the honourees, while embracing innovation and technology to make the system more effective.
The Administrator said the awards presented were not just plaques or certificates, but symbols of gratitude and recognition of decades of sacrifice, resilience, and commitment to duty.
Ibas encouraged the workforce to strive beyond keeping the system running and focus on making meaningful impacts in the lives of citizens.
