The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has announced plans to recruit more sanitation marshals to ensure stricter enforcement of environmental laws across the state.
Chairman of the agency, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the recruitment exercise will commence after the completion of three new dumpsites currently under construction.
Nwanosike reaffirmed the ban on the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on road medians and other unauthorized areas, warning that offenders will face arrest and prosecution.
He urged residents to comply with the agency’s regulations and support ongoing efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment in Rivers State.
