The Rivers State Government says it is now ready to clamp down on the activities of scavengers in Port Harcourt and its environs.
Sole Administrator, of the State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA, Bro Felix Obuah who disclosed in a statement, said the activities of scavengers within the state is a major concern.
He said the relevant laws against such practices that is detrimental to the health and well-being of residents will be fully activated.
Obuah, warned that anyone caught flouting the sanitation laws will be severely dealt with if they do not desist from the act, adding that no one is above the laws of the State.
He also warned residents of the state against dumping of refuse at unapproved RIWAMA sites.
