FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has said that if they had chosen a governorship candidate based on contribution, Sim Fubara would not have been governor.
Wike said this during a New Year thanksgiving organized by Felix Obuah in Onelga yesterday.
According to him, Felix Obuah popularly known as Go-Round would have been among the first candidates to emerge if the standard for the selection of a candidate was based on contributions to the party and the state.
Wike who revealed that he told Go-Round to step down from the governorship race; apologized to him and his supporters for taking a decision which according to him, hurt them.
Part of his statement reads,
“I want to do what many leaders find very difficult doing.
Let me publicly apologize to Go-Round and his supporters for taking a decision that hurt them.
I asked Go-Round to step down from the governorship race and he didn’t hesitate.
I didn’t want to take the risk of allowing him to go to the primaries because I know his capacity.
If I had allowed it, the person that is Governor wouldn’t have become governor.
If we had wanted to choose govship candidate based on their contributions, Go-Round would’ve been among the first.
