A women’s advocacy group in Rivers State, Rivers Women Unite for SIM, has applauded recent efforts toward political reconciliation in the state, calling for a sustained commitment to peace and unity among all stakeholders.
In a statement signed by Christy Glory Sunday and Belema Oningiye, the group commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, members of the State House of Assembly, and other stakeholders for gradually resolving the prolonged political rift that has destabilized the state in recent months.
They expressed confidence in the ongoing peace process, facilitated by President Bola Tinubu, and urged residents to support the reconciliation efforts by discarding bitterness and divisive sentiments. The group said embracing unity and the principle of “no victor, no vanquished” would accelerate the restoration of normalcy and democratic governance in the state.
“We believe that total reconciliation and restoration are achievable if all parties put the interest of Rivers State first,” the statement read. “Let the past be left to history so we can collectively chart a new path for progress and development.”
The group also lauded President Tinubu for his intervention and expressed optimism that the suspension of democratic structures would soon be lifted as peace returns.
Rivers Women Unite for SIM pledged continued support for the peace process through prayers and advocacy, urging followers of all political factions to heal and unite for the greater good of the state.
