The All Progressives Congress in Rivers has revealed why it approached the court to stop the conduct of the forthcoming local government elections.
The party in a statement said they went to court because the state government breached the constitution.
The APC stated that the government and the state electoral body ought to have conducted the election 90 days before the expiration of the tenure of council chairmen.
Recall that the Federal High Court Abuja had restrained INEC from releasing the voters register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to conduct the forthcoming local government elections pending the determination of the substantive suit.
