Sen. Olaka Nwogu has revealed why the people of Eleme Local Government Area voted for Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, saying the decision was taken based on the directive of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, whom the people of Eleme trusted for political leadership.
Nwogu, a former senator who represented Rivers East Senatorial District, made the disclosure on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
“We voted for Governor Sim Fubara because Wike directed us to do so,” Nwogu said, alleging that Wike had since been betrayed. He added that Eleme had not attracted any major development projects since Wike left office, stressing that the people would continue to stand by the former Rivers governor.
On his part, Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Hon. Obarilomate Ollor, praised Wike for bringing development to Eleme and other parts of Rivers State, highlighting several projects executed during his tenure. He pledged the support of the local government for President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Other leaders, including Chief Ejor Ejor, former Eleme chairman Hon. Isaac Kamalu, Hon. Fred Igwe and Marcus Ejii, also pledged their loyalty to Wike and vowed to follow his political direction
