Former Special Adviser to the Governor of Rivers State, Opunabo Inko-Tariah has said that a riverine person should be the next governor of the state.
Speaking, when he appeared on NigInfo’s Crossfire, today, he appealed to other ethnic groups to support the riverine to produce Wike’s successor.
According to him, since 1999 no riverine person has emerged governor of the state, adding that the time is right for a riverine governor.
He explained that the Riverine and the Ogoni ethnic nationalities are two groups that should lay claim to the seat, but the riverine should go first, because Ogoni is part of the upland that has produced the governors of the state since the beginning of democracy.
He said after the riverine, then the Ogonis should be allowed to occupy the seat.
Inko-Tariah who also reacted to Gov. Wike’s Stomach Infrastructure programme, said despite it having a political undertone, it is not going to influence the 2023 elections, as Rivers people cannot be deceived.
He noted that the money is not the governor’s own, as Rivers people should be beneficiaries, adding that there should be no discrimination.
According to him, Wike has being busy building flyovers, and that he has failed to build industries, create enabling environment for business to thrive, and also failed in the area of Human Capital Development.
He stated that the governor, has being sharing Rivers money to other states, while pension and gratuities were yet to be paid.
Inko-Tariah alleged that industries in the state are moribond, and that he expected the governor to revive them, so as to create employment for Rivers people.
He also advised Wike to learn how to accept critcisms, and not to come on air to insult people and their families whenever he is criticized.
