The Rivers State Taskforce on Street Trading, Illegal Market and Motor Park, says it has sacked 11 of its members for extorting motorists.
State coordinator of the taskforce, Mr. Felix Nwadiabie made this known during a telephone conversation with journalists in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
He said the officials were sacked on Thursday, after they were caught extorting motorists at Choba, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Mr. Felix noted that the act will serve as deterrent to others. He also stated that the force was not formed to make money off motorists or anyone.
In addition, he urged residents of the state to cooperate with them and report any member of the force, extorting motorists or perpetrating any illegal act.
