The Rivers State Taskforce on Street Trading and Illegal Motor Park, has raised an alarm over what it described as incessant attacks, on its members by commercial drivers.
Innocent Amadi, Leader of the taskforce, team 08, who disclosed this to journalists in Port Harcourt, said drivers normally attack them over nothing.
He noted that some taskforce officials were on Wednesday, attacked by a commercial driver, at Agip, which left some of them hospitalized.
He said all they did was caution the driver to park properly, after he had parked wrongly, blocking the road.
“We were helping to control the traffick at Agip junction. So one of the Vanagon driver packed wrongly and was causing obstruction on the road,” he said.
“We tried to ask him to clear, but he tried to hit one of my men. One of my men entered his vehicle and he wanted to run away with him, but we chased and caught him,” he added.
