The Rivers State Taskforce on Illegal Street Trading and Motor Parks, has reacted to allegation of extortion levelled against some of its officials by transporters in the State.
Chairman of the Taskforce, Felix Nwadiabiye in a chat with Journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, said there is no iota of truth in such claims, adding that he is yet to receive complaints from transporters or anyone else.
He said mobile numbers have been made available to members of the public to report erring task force officials, but no complaint has been lodged.
Nwadiabiye stated that the allegation against the force is a ploy by some persons to discredit them, and incite the public against its officials.
He explained that the force is against extortion and other illegal acts, as it would not fail to punish anyone caught in such activities.
Nwadiabiye, urged members of the public to ignore such claims, adding that the command is committed to putting an end to illegal street trading and motor Parks parks across the State.
