The Rivers State House of Assembly in plenary today, Monday, 3rd July, 2023 gave the State Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N200,000,000,000.00(two hundred billion Naira) Second Reading.
Leading the debate on the Bill, the House Leader, Hon Edison Ehie enumerated the merits of the Bill, which anchored on the socio-economic development that the Port Harcourt Ring Road will bring to bear on the State.
Hon. Members who contributed to the debate aligned with the submissions of Hon. Ehie, and urged the House to pass the Bill.
Commenting on the Bill, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule commended Hon. Members for subjecting the Bill to scrutiny; adding that the Port Harcourt Ring Road project for which the budgetary approval is sought will be of great benefit to Rivers people.
The Bill has been committed to an Adhoc Committee to conduct Public Hearing and report to the House on the next legislative day, Wednesday, 5th July, 2023.
