Former President of Apani Student Association, Mr Elechi Chimankpam has accused OSPAC personnel in Apani community of physically assaulting him over alleged financial misappropriation.

Elechi, a student of the Rivers State School of Health, in a statement yesterday, said his successor had reported him to the local vigilante group, accusing him of stealing the Association’s fund.

He said, upon getting to the office of the vigilante group to honor their invitation, they immediately arrested him and demanded N5000 for his bail.

Mr Elechi, said while in detention they used woods and machetes to inflict injuries on him, as he fainted and was bleeding from his nose and mouth. “I spent hours in detention before my father came and paid the money,” he said.

He stated that they threatened to shoot him if he reports the matter to the police or go public over the issue.

The victim, called on the relevant security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.

He also said, he wants a refund of all the money he had spent treating the injuries he sustained.
