The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) has reinforced its commitment to improving access to quality primary healthcare services with the successful hosting of the first quarter 2026 Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) Gateway Forum in Port Harcourt.
The forum brought together key stakeholders and implementing partners across the four BHCPF gateways—REMSAS, RSPHCMB, NCDC, and RIVCHPP—as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health, NHIA, WHO, the Corona Management System, CHAI, and other development partners. The meeting focused on reviewing progress, strengthening coordination, and enhancing primary healthcare service delivery across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Dede Seiyeofori commended stakeholders for their sustained commitment to the successful implementation of the BHCPF. He emphasized the need for collaboration, accountability, and data-driven decision-making in achieving universal health coverage, urging participants to share experiences to identify gaps and develop practical solutions.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary/CEO of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, highlighted the forum’s role in improving healthcare services for enrollees. She noted that the platform enables stakeholders to assess performance, address gaps, and implement effective strategies.
Agala further disclosed plans to commence Phase 2 BHCPF enrolment at the facility level, including integration with the National Identification Number (NIN) to expand coverage.
