Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said that they would not give anybody the governorship position of the state, as it is not their power to do so.
The governor, said this during the Civic reception in his honor by the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality in Ahoada Town on Saturday.
Wike, who commended the Ekpeye people for their support awarded and approved the immediate construction of the Ozochi community bridge.
The governor, stated that he chose to award the contract, due to the love and loyalty of the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie.
He also explained that the deputy speaker has proven himself to be a loyal and trusted ally and deserved to be rewarded.
According to sources, the governor, also upgraded the Igbi Ugbobi traditional stool to a first class stool, to the excitement of the Ekpeye people.
He also noted that if an Ekpeye person decides to contest the governorship position, it would be looked into.
The Governor, was crowned Eze Ugbabuezewe Ekpeye Olu of Ekpeye land (The man who lifted Ekpeye people).
