PORT HARCOURT – Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially transferred the state’s AW 139 helicopter to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as part of efforts to enhance security and foster an enabling environment for investment in the state and the Niger Delta region.
The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the NAF Base in Port Harcourt, where Governor Fubara presented the aircraft to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar.
During the event, Fubara announced that his administration is also supporting the Air Force by resurfacing the runway at the base, among other infrastructure improvements.
He further emphasized his role as a member of a federal committee tasked with safeguarding critical government assets in the Niger Delta to ensure their optimal use and effectiveness.
