The Federal Government has announced that the Rivers state Government will receive the sum of N78,953,067,518.29, for money spent on repairing federal roads in the state.
The other states in the country shortlisted to receive money from the federal government include Cross River – N18,394,737,608.85; Ondo – N7,822,147,577.08; Osun – N2,468,938,876.78 and Bayelsa – N38,040,564,783.40. The total sum to be reimbursed to the five states is N148,141,987,161.25.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed made this known while briefing State House correspondents on behalf of Babatunde Fashola, the Minister for Works and Housing. Mohammed stated that the council had also warned state governments that there will be no reimbursement in the future should any state government go ahead with such projects without the approval of the federal government.
Rivers state is expected to get the said sum for the construction of three roads and three flyovers bridges by the state government.
