PORT HARCOURT — The Rivers State Vehicle Inspection Office has announced that driver’s licenses will now be issued only after both vehicle and driver inspections are conducted.
Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer Kobho Monibo disclosed the new measure, developed in partnership with the Rivers State Ministry of Transport, as part of efforts to improve road safety and ensure vehicle roadworthiness.
Monibo revealed that many motorists operate their vehicles for more than five years without renewing essential documentation, a trend he described as alarming.
He emphasized that the Vehicle Inspection Office remains the sole authority empowered to enforce these documentation renewals, urging car owners to prepare for forthcoming inspection exercises.
