The Rivers State Police Command is aware of a viral social media post alleging that the Divisional Police Officer of Trans-Amadi Police Division, Oginigba, issued transport restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. along several routes. The Command hereby clarifies that such a restriction as alleged was never issued.
Rather, the Trans-Amadi Police Division adjusted certain strategies to combat and clampdown on some criminal hideouts by virtue of raids etc, with a view to improving security in the area within its jurisdiction. We strongly frown at the spread of false information that may incite the public and hereby urge the public to continue their lawful activities, as any individual(s) involved in criminal activities will face the consequences as spelt out in the Law. Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, psc, LLB, ph.D, wishes to reassure residents that Rivers State remains a secure and safe environment.
