The Rivers State Ministry of Health has joined the global community to commemorate International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Awareness Day, observed today, September 9.
The Ministry called on expectant mothers to prioritize the health of their unborn children by abstaining from alcohol consumption during pregnancy. It warned that FASD can result in lifelong physical, cognitive, and behavioral complications.
Officials further emphasized the need for collective efforts to raise awareness and extend support to families affected by the disorder.
