Former DG of the Nigerian Maritime Administation and Safety Management, NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside has denied claims by Governor Nyesom Wike that he embezzled over three billion naira meant for the Queen’s Town Sandfilling Project.
Peterside, in a chat with journalists on Monday, said the allegation is false, adding that the project was awarded at N1.9 billion and not N3.1 billion as alleged.
He said the project kick-started under the former administation but the Wike-led administation failed to carry on because they had no plans for the Opobo people.
Dakuku, also reacted to claims by Wike that the state is not indebted to any bank.
He said such claims by the Governor is deceitful, as Rivers State is the second most Indebted State in Nigeria.
He also said building of flyovers does not mean that the economy of the state is thriving, adding that the state has not gotten maximum value from the money received so far.
Dakuku, alleged that Rivers State is borrowing same way the Federal Government is borrowing.
He said while there is nothing wrong in borrowing, not using it to develop the economy is the problem.
