The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh, has inaugurated a seven-member State-level selection committee for the Health Fellows Nigeria Program, a one-year initiative aimed at engaging young professionals from health, information technology, and social science fields recently announced by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate.
The program is designed to equip participants with world-class training in public health administration under dedicated mentorship. Dr. Adaeze Oreh, the Rivers State Commissioner for Health, emphasized that the initiative seeks to develop leadership skills and promote results-driven service delivery in the health sector.
Speaking during the inauguration, Oreh highlighted the importance of a transparent and inclusive selection process.
The committee comprises representatives from various sectors, including WHO, community-based organizations, academia, and government agencies. Key members include:
