The Rivers State Government has issued a stern warning to the public regarding the circulation of fake government announcements falsely attributed to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
In a public notice signed by Sir Dede Sampson Friday, Permanent Secretary of the Special Services Bureau, it was disclosed that certain individuals are spreading false information under the guise of official government releases purportedly signed by the SSG.
The statement clarified that all legitimate communications from the Office of the SSG are disseminated through official channels. The government emphasized its commitment to progress and sustainable development, and warned that anyone found attempting to mislead the public or create unrest through misinformation will face legal consequences.
“Be guided and be warned,” the notice concluded, reaffirming the government’s zero tolerance for the misuse of official identities.
