The Rivers State Government has commenced a firefighting refresher course for staff as part of efforts to upgrade the state’s fire service. The training, organized by the Ministry of Special Duties, aims to enhance emergency response capabilities to combat fire outbreaks effectively.
Addressing journalists, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Sam Anya, highlighted that the initiative aligns with Governor Sim Fubara’s plan to revamp the fire service. He announced that newly reconstructed fire service sub-stations and brand-new fire trucks will be commissioned in March to bolster emergency response capacity across the state.
Chief Anya also revealed that the training is available to corporate organizations, religious institutions, and private individuals interested in improving their fire safety knowledge. Organizations are encouraged to apply by writing to the ministry to enroll their members.
