The Rivers State Government has expressed deep shock over the tragic death of Reuben Giesen, an expatriate who drowned in the Okulu River, Aleto Eleme, along the East-West Road.
Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu conveyed the government’s condolences during a visit to the family of the late Giesen at Golf Estate, Port Harcourt, on Monday, January 20, 2025.
Prof. Odu described Giesen’s untimely demise as a significant loss, emphasizing that his vision of transferring technological expertise to train Rivers youths had been abruptly cut short. She noted that the tragedy, occurring so early in the year, has deeply saddened the government and the people of Rivers State.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Engr. Victor Kii.
Earlier, Chief Jude Nliam, the elder brother of Mrs. Giesen, thanked the state government for their support during the family’s time of grief and prayed for divine blessings on the administration.
