The Rivers State Government has announced the commencement of recruitment for teachers into public primary and secondary schools across the state.
In an official advertisement issued under the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the government invited suitably qualified individuals with a passion for classroom teaching to apply for the exercise.
The recruitment drive, according to the statement, signed by the Deputy Governor of the state, Ngozi Odu, who also serves as Chairman of the Teachers’ Recruitment Committee is aimed at strengthening the Basic and Secondary Education sectors by engaging professionals committed to quality teaching and fostering academic excellence.
Available positions include teaching roles in all subject areas at both the primary and secondary school levels.
Applicants for primary school positions are required to possess a minimum of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), while candidates for secondary school roles must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) or a degree in a relevant teaching subject along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
In addition, all applicants must have a valid Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certificate, evidence of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or an exemption certificate, strong communication skills, and basic computer literacy.
Interested candidates are to submit their applications online via the designated portal.
The application process opens at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, and will close at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.
The government emphasized that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, adding that the recruitment process is free and strictly based on merit.
