A 32-year-old man, Promise Cletus, who was arrested for trafficking a 15-month-old baby, King David has been remanded in the Port Harcourt Custodial Centre.
That, was after he pleaded not guilty to the charge which is punishable under section(27) of the Child’s Right Act Cap.
The matter was adjourned till January 21, 2022 for hearing.
“That you, Promise Cletus, on December 1, 2021, at Iwofe, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, did take away King David Saroz, one year and three months old from the custody of his mother, Mary Victor, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 27(2) (b) (c) of the Child’s Right Act Cap. 50 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2003,” the charge read.
