Rivers State has been listed as one of the states affected by the 2025 flooding disaster, which the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says has claimed at least 165 lives nationwide.
NEMA, in data released via its official dashboard on Friday, reported that 82 persons are still missing, while 138 sustained varying degrees of injuries. The flood has impacted a total of 119,791 individuals across 43 Local Government Areas in 19 states.
The agency noted that 43,936 people have been displaced, with 8,594 houses damaged and 8,278 farmlands destroyed. Vulnerable groups, including children and women, were the most affected.
According to the breakdown provided by NEMA, 53,314 children, 36,573 women, 24,600 men, 5,304 elderly persons, and 1,863 people living with disabilities have been affected.
States with the highest number of affected persons include Imo, Rivers, Abia, Borno, and Kaduna. The full list of affected states comprises Abia, FCT, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Rivers, and Sokoto.
