The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Rivers State has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), demanding a detailed breakdown of allocations in the proposed 2025 budget, including a controversial N24 billion provision for CCTV installation in the Government House.
According to The Guardian, Chairman of the committee and House Majority Leader, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere (APC, Edo), gave the directive on Monday during a budget defence session in Abuja. He expressed concerns over several questionable line items in the N1.48 trillion budget proposal submitted by the administrator.
Ihonvbere stated that after scrutinizing the budget, the committee identified numerous irregularities and unresolved issues. He further directed Ibas to present the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), which he described as a statutory requirement that must precede any budget presentation.
