The Rivers State Government says the Real Madrid Academy in Port Harcourt will begin academics and sporting activities for the 2023/2024 academic session on the 8th of October 2023.
The state Commissioner for sports, Hon. Chris Green disclosed this in a statement in Port Harcourt.
He said successful students between ages 9 and 12 who have been screened and offered admission, with majority of them from Rivers State and few slots given to non-indigenous Rivers youths, will get groomed in sporting talents and attain academic excellence.
According to him, commencement of regular activities at the academy was delayed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 that caused global travel ban and prevented the Directors expected from Real Madrid in Spain to come down to kick-start the process as partners, plus other unseen situations.
