Chairman of the Trade Union Congress in Rivers State, TUC, Ikechukwu Onyekwuru has called on Federal Government to review the allowances of workers to help reduce the effect of subsidy removal.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt over the weekend, onyekwuru said the prices of goods have skyrocketed as workers cannot live with their current earnings.
According to him, the current food inflation rate in Rivers is 3.3percent only behind Bayelsa which ranks number one nationwide on the list by the National Bureau of Statistics.
He called on the Federal Government to use money realized from subsidy removal to fix the PH refinery which has been under repairs before the commencement of the Dangote Refinery.
The TUC chair also called on the government to engage all stakeholders to work out modalities that will yield effective results.
