The Rivers State Police Command, says the curfew imposed by Governor Wike has helped reduced crime to its barest minimum.
Spokesperson of the State Command, Nnamdi Omoni who disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, on Monday, said it has also helped them to respond to distress calls across the state.
He appealed to Governor Wike not to lift the night time curfew for now, till all Criminal elements are flushed out the state.
“We are driving the criminals away from Rivers State. So, when their remnants have been rounded off, then it can be lifted,” he said.
“The curfew was imposed essentially to arrest the trend of attacks on police. Since it was imposed, that attack has ceased abruptly and we are leveraging it. I think the governor should still delay it (curfew) for sometime because it has been assisting us,” he added.
Omoni, urged residents to continue to obey the Governor’s directive, adding that the Command is committed to ensuring the protection of lives and properties.
