The C4i Intelligence Unit of the Rivers State Police Command has rescued a 13-year-old girl who was abducted in Oyigbo last Thursday.
She was found around 6 p.m. on Tuesday in a bushy, fenced plot of land in Etche Local Government Area, where she had reportedly been held captive for days.
A viral video of the rescue operation shows officers leading the visibly shaken girl out of the compound. The abductors were allegedly demanding a ransom before her release.
The same video also shows one of the suspected kidnappers seated on the ground after his arrest, confessing to the crime during police interrogation.
The Rivers State Police Command has said it will release an official statement on the incident soon.
