The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven suspects linked to the brutal murder of Barrister Bright Owhor, who was shot dead by gunmen on July 6, 2025, at his residence on Market Road, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched a manhunt following the incident. After ten days of intelligence gathering and surveillance, all suspects involved in the killing were tracked and apprehended.
The arrested individuals include Prince Samuel (30), Daniel Godwin (25), Henry Peter (24), Godfrey Emmanuel a.k.a. Ibu (30), Chukwu Nneji (34), Justice Dimkpa (27), and Promise Wikere (22). The police disclosed that the gang belongs to the Deygbam Secret Cult Group and admitted to carrying out the assassination, withdrawing funds from the victim’s bank account, and participating in cult-related violence in the Diobu area.
Among the recovered items were arms and ammunition, two live cartridges, an MTN SIM card, a Toyota Camry, and a minibus allegedly used in the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, praised the operatives for their swift and effective response, reaffirming the command’s commitment to dismantling cult networks and enhancing public safety across the state.
