The Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria – PMAN, Rivers State Chapter has moved to fight piracy in the music industry.
The MOZY-B-led group began the move Today, Tuesday 3rd of December, 2024 with a familiarization visit to the NCC Directorate Office in Port Harcourt.
According to Secretary of the body, Mr. Ezekiel Benibo they told the NCC how “musicians intellectual property has been hijack and infringed by unauthorized persons who claimed they have authority to do so in Rivers State.
He added that the group “highlighted the various processes of unauthorized used of intellectual property in Rivers State, defaults of contract agreements, non payment of royalties, unauthorized music events, impersonation and more.
He also said, “the NCC Director, Abdul-Selemi B.Babatunde, MBA…, responded by thanking the body and vowed to synergize, collaborate to fight, enforce and prosecute defaulters in Rivers State and beyond.
