The Rivers State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, says those who protested at its Secretariat yesterday, are not members of the party.
Publicity Secretary of the party, Sydney Gbara in a statement shortly after the protest, said the protesters where hired to disrupt the process.
According to him, the receipts the protesters were holding during the protest, were not issued by the party.
He stated that all those who paid for forms, into the party’s account have been issued nomination forms, as the party cannot deny any genuine member forms paid for.
He called on members of the party and the general public to ignore the claims by the protesters, adding that they are mercenaries trying to discredit the process.
Some aggrieved persons yesterday, protested at the party’s Secretariat, claiming that they were not issued forms after making payments.
