GOV. WIKE’S SHAMEFUL OUTINGS IN IBADAN AND LAGOS DEFAME RIVERS STATE
This is a very bad time for those of us from Rivers State. There is no recorded history of a sitting governor of our dear state taking bashings the way Wike has in few weeks.
First, our governor was the object of hurled insults and umbrage in Lagos where he had tactlessly gone to denigrate Atiku. The good and exposed people of Lagos made our governor leave their state in shame. Wike was lampooned and laughed at.
Again, the highly educated people of Oyo State took their turn to carpet and puncture our governor, as ATIKU chant overshadowed our Wike’s voice.
It was with heavy hearts that we watched our own governor stress himself to be heard. In fact, he lost his voice because the crowd was very loud in its rejection of Wike’s poisoned chalice. It seems our governor journeys from one tragedy to another these days.
Our worry is that our governor may end up being stoned and boed at, if he does not show restraint. The shame, whether we choose to agree or not, is statewide. It is a collective shame, since he is the one wielding state power with our say-so.
Our hearts go out to Gov. Wike, but he should note that this self-inflicted pain affects us too. He has to stop belittling our state before our neighbours in the West. It is two outings, two shameful outcomes in a row, yet our self-styled emperor does not see any reason why he should beat a retreat?
Must Rivers State lose her glory because Gov. Wike lost at the PDP primaries? It is time for our governor to come back home. He cannot continue to trod the wrong path. The state ship sails towards Atiku, and our Gov. Wike, the one we ceded our mandate to, must reflect our choice.
The name ATIKU reverberates in the minds of many a Nigerian, and one wonders why our own governor and his lilliputian clique do not know this. Oyo, Abia, and Rivers State have governors whose selfishness pitts them against their people.
Rivers people are not known for fighting a meaningless war. Nemesis will catch up with Wike soon. The good people of Rivers State may not be as vocal as their counterparts in Oyo and Lagos, but they know how to sting those who play god.
We are thankful to the Most High that our governor has just few months to stay in office. Our state bleeds from these shameful outings. We need respite from Gov. Wike’s intractable tirades.
As a hint, our governor should note that those who worked with him to dethrone the erstwhile self-styled emperor are battle ready to resume action with him as their object.
