The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has reacted to the defection of one of its members, Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi to the All Progressives Party (APC). Hon. Nwuzi is currently representing Omuma/Etche federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, Amb. Desmond Akawor in a statement yesterday said the party will write to the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila to declare the seat of the lawmaker vacant.
He said the lawmaker having decamped to another party ought not to remain in the House as it is against the law, which stipulates that a lawmaker can only decamp to another party if the current party is engulfed in crises.
Akawor noted that the PDP in the state is currently not engulfed in any crises and as such, Nwuzi’s seat should be declared vacant.
