Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to the derecognition of Sir. Celestine Omehia as a former governor of the state.
Wike during a media chat in Port Harcourt Today, debunked rumors making the rounds that Omehia’s derecognition was to show vindictiveness.
He said if he wanted to show vindictiveness, he would not have recognized him as governor, because Omehia dissolved councils when he was sworn in as governor.
He explained that he was unable to complete his tenure as a Council Chairman due to the dissolution, simply because they took advertorials congratulating an enemy to Omehia.
He also revealed that Omehia never wanted him to be the governor of Rivers State and did not support his governorship ambition.
Gov. Wike explained that the state Assembly should be commended for correcting their mistake.
He stressed that he did not derecognize Omehia as he was not a member of the state house of Assembly, adding that the latter needs to pay all entitlements received.
Gov. Wike further explained that Attorney General of the state will advise on what to do if Omehia fails to make a refund.
